Sun's out, Roses in bloom and hey we have a little solar powered water feature here!! Bought this old trough in Cirencester on the bank holiday and have always wanted a water feature, and despite the many never ending discussions, Mr S has given into my obsession and here we are. It's hidden from the house on this small plot of paved space which we never really used, so when the sun shines and the bi-folds are open we get the lovely sound and then get to appreciate it visually from the bottom of the garden when looking back up at the house. ⛲ I know.. I know it might not be like the fountains in Barcelona or Rome but this makes me happy as a pig-in-shit 🐖
Morning y'all! Got a really boring meeting this morning but then hopefully my water feature pump will arrive this afternoon. Please bear with me I'm way too excited about this. I've never had a water feature in my life despite always wanting one. I removed I was around 8 years old when I started interfering with my mother's gardening plans back in Malta and obviously had no idea what I was talking about. But anyway.. I'd rather just run a bath and watch the trees sway than go to this meeting but must be an adult till I can play with water in the garden 💦

Check out this super cute brass trinket box I bought when down in @cirencester antiques centre. And a bargain too! I am using it to keep the matchboxes in for my @diptyque candle as it keeps the mantle nice and neat. Can't wait for the weekend as we're off to Valencia with some friends. Project beach body never left the drawing table so don't expect any Adonis photos from myself.

Morning!! Just saw the light shining through the palm and the bonbon vases and thought that was really beautiful. Sometimes just spending time looking at things in different lights can really highlight their potential. Same goes for most things in life I guess. Morning! I wanna ask you lovely lot about window treatments today. I'm a big fan of blackout curtains as I work shifts so it helps me sleep better in darkness 🦇 but I also like a layered look but don't want too much obstruction of views. What are you a fan of? Bedrooms, living rooms and bathrooms all need different considerations. Ooh the choices are endless.

Rug detail! We sourced these gorgeous rugs from a great guy having a sale up in the lake District. We wanted something relatively ornate to go in the formal dining room and had to balance off against the intense rectory red walls from @farrowandball The table was a vintage find from @ebay_uk which I need to get round to restoring properly and I bought the chairs at a local antiques dealer and restained and upholstered them myself. That was a big job. I've still got another 4 I need to do which I haven't had to heart to start yet.

Morning Instagram!! And hello to all my lovely new followers! How's everyone feeling after the glorious weekend we have just had. Lovely summers weather, a royal wedding, me running the 10k and getting a new PB. I know this was a highlight for everyone 😉😋 so today is cleanup post weekend day and the rest of the house looks like a bomb has gone off . So I've salvaged this lovely bouquet of wild flowers I foraged after being inspired by the talk given by @emmatheflorist at the @nohouserules event last month. Inspiring us to be adventurous with our bouquets, as I hope this inspires you. 💐

Bunting us out! Scones baked, jam at the ready. No clotted cream though as I went to SIX supermarkets including @waitrose @asda @aldiuk @sainsburys @marksandspencer and @tescofood and they were all-out of clotted cream! Sounds like a British constitutional crisis in the making! Disaster anyhoooo cava is chilled, so I might survive haha 🎂🥂

So our debate about whether or not to paint the panelling in the hall has been ongoing since even before we moved in a year ago. I adore the wood but it is a very dark stain. And I'm afraid that paining it will lose part of its charm. But at the same time it is so dark that you still can't appreciate it cos you can't even see it! Such a challenge. The fear is that if we do paint it and want it back to wood.. it would be such a job and expensive too! So for now we might just repaint the walls and re assess. It can always be painted later once we are sure right?

I never thought I needed curtains in here as it's not really overlooked but I'm second guessing this now as it might soften the edges of the French doors. What do you think?

Albeit never a perfectly spotless or streak free glass shower cubicle I adore the lovely luxurious feel we managed to obtain with this large marble and glass shower which replaced an aweful tiny round shower. The vintage mirror above the sink was a great find from an antiques haul and has been paired perfectly with the crystal wall lights.

Project "Make The Front of The House Look Less Like a Carpark", otherwise known as M.T.F.T.H.L3.C, is underway. This side of the house is north east facing so I know it might be overly ambitious to plant rhodedendrons and scented jasmine here but I wanted to trial them here, hence the pots, before doing any hard landscaping. Also I'm obsessed with scented jasmine. My mother's house used to have it growing all up the central courtyard and it's intoxicating sweet smell used to fill the house in early Spring. Now I know this isn't Malta, but I'm nostalgic like that. My ideal is for it to grow up and over the door. One can only hope.💐
Morning! I'm trying out my new phone and the photos are coming out quite well if I do say so myself. Today I'm researching wallpapers for the downstairs cloakroom which I posted about yesterday. Again still open to wallpaper recommendations and thanks to those who sent in suggestions yesterday. The hunt continues. Xoxo

Hello!! So to celebrate a new phone I'm going to take a photo against the light which I wouldn't have easily been able to do with my old phone due to glare. It took nearly 2 hours of phone calls between the phone provider and the line provider to sort it out and it's gonna be another month till were back to normal but hey ho at least my phone is here and I can use it. In the meanwhile I'm going to continue pretending these Mediterranean weather spells are going to last and I'm also going to attempt to cook the latest @ottolenghi recipe tonight. Stay tuned 😎
